Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) is the practical image of Islam. There is no way that one can get to know Islam without knowing Allah’s Messenger (PBUH); his guidance, work, instructions and prohibitions.

Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) made peace and war, settled and traveled, sold and bought, took and gave. He never lived alone, neither did he travel alone.

Muslims had weakened only because they failed to follow his pattern and guidance for the Almighty Allah said” Indeed in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much.”

Some Muslims went to the extent that they only read his biography (PBUH) during celebrations and forums without following his guidance. Some others read it either for obtaining blessings or for getting familiar with its events; wars, days…..etc.

This happens due to one of two reasons: first: their ignorance of the principal of following his pattern & guidance (PBUH) and not knowing that this is a necessity for achieving his love.

Second: their failure in perceiving the positions of guidance in his biography due to a weakness in their sense of conclusion or due to their lack of knowledge and readings.

Here lies the importance of deriving the lessons and benefits from his biography (PBUH).

The biography of the Prophet (PBUH) is not meant to be taught for the pleasure of reading nor for the knowledge of a certain historic period and not for the love of studying the biographies of the grand and heroes. Such kind of superficial study is performed by none Muslims. A Muslim should have various aims from studying his biography, among which are;

First: Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) is the one to be followed for he is the example for all Muslims. He is the legislator whom we are instructed to follow, for Allah says” Indeed in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much.” (Al-Ahzab:21). Allah (the Almighty) says” If you obey him, you shall be on the right guidance” (Al-Noor:54). Allah also says” He who obeys the Messenger, has indeed obeyed Allah” (Al-Nissa:80). And Allah also says” Say if you really love Allah then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your sins” (Al-Imran:31).

He is the practical image and incarnation of Islam without whom we can not possibly know how to obey the Almighty Allah or worship Him.

From his biography the scholars derive the techniques of the Call and its phases. They also get to know the tremendous effort exerted by Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) for the sake of raising the word of Allah and how he reacted in facing the hardships and obstacles that faced him.

•From his biography, teachers can derive the methods & techniques of education.•From his biography, rulers can derive systems and methodology of leadership.•From his biography, the ascetics can derive the meaning and essence beyond being an ascetic.•From his biography, traders can derive the aims, systems and methods of trading.•From it, those who are suffering can learn the highest degrees of patience and persistence, thus their determination can grow stronger and their trust in Allah increases knowing that the result will be finally in their favor.•From it, the scholars derive knowledge which enables them to better understand the Book of Allah (Al-Quran) and the various sciences of Islam, among which are the abrogating and abrogated verses, the reasons behind the revelation of verses and many other knowledge.•From it, the whole nation derives the morals, manners and merits.

Ibn Katheer said ” a special care and attention must be paid to such type of study (the biography of Allah’s Messenger (PBUH)) as it was narrated by Omar Al-Wakedi that Abdullah ibn omar ibn ali said that his father heard Ali ibn Al-Hussain saying. “we used to know the conquests of Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) as we know the verses of the holy Quran”.

Al-wakedi said, I heard Mohamed ibn Abdullah saying that he heard his uncle Al-Zuhri saying “in the science of conquests, lies both the science of life and that of the hereafter.”

Ismail ibn Mohammed ibn Saad ibn abi Wakkas said ” my father used to teach us the conquests of Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) and repeated them to us saying. “these are the glorious deeds of your fathers so waste them not”.

History had witnessed many kings, leaders, poets and philosophers but none of them had left behind such a biography and such pattern to be followed as it is with the Prophet’s. History had wiped off all their credit and the only thing left is some of their names.

Biographies of many grand people had turned out to be mere jokes throughout history. Where is Namroud who said to Ibrahim (PBUH) “I give life and cause death” ?

Where is Pharaoh who said “I am your lord, most high.” (Al-nazia’at:24), and what was his destiny” he who also said ” I know not that you have an ilâh (a god) other than me.” (AL-Qassas:38).

Those grand people of their ages are now being mocked by everyone; the young and the old, the knowledgeable and the ignorant, for if they had succeeded in deceiving their people at their time, their deception has been revealed and they became a mockery throughout time.

The biography of Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) had provided the means for getting the people out of the darkness of polytheism and the corruption of worship to the light of monotheism and belief in Allah (the Almighty) who said “ O Prophet ! Verily, We have sent you as witness, and a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner And as one who invites to Allah by His Leave, and as a lamp spreading light.” (Al-Ahzab:45-46).

Second: we study Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) biography so that our belief in his honesty may increase. Knowledge of his miracles and the signs of his prophecy are sure means to increase faith and trust in his honesty (PBUH). The study of his glorious biography and his great attitudes only prove his perfection, loftiness and honesty.

Third. we study his biography in order to have his love deeply entrenched in our hearts, for what his biography holds as regards his virtuous manners, his generous treatment, his great concern for guiding people to the right path and their welfare, his sacrifice with self and money for the sake of getting people out of the darkness and into the light and from distress to happiness and his great concern in warding off any hardships that may befall his nation

The question of the status and prophethood of the Prophet Muhammad has been one of the most crucial and controversial issues in the history of Christian-Muslim relations.

ReadingIslam.com presents a series of articles investigating the answers to the following questions: Can Christians acknowledge the prophethood of Muhammad? How have Christian Orientalists been reviewing their ideas about Prophet Muhammad?

The articles will discuss those scholars whose views have generated lively debate within Christianity and who have contributed substantially and positively to the developments of Christian-Muslim dialogue. They are Montgomery Watt, Kenneth Cragg, Hans Küng, and David Kerr.

David Kerr examines the prophethood of Muhammad in the light of Quranic accounts.

Click here to read the introduction, part 2, part 3, and part 4

David Kerr, as a former director of two highly significant Christian-Muslim study centers, namely, the Center for the Study of Islam and Christian Muslim Relations in Birmingham, England, and the D.B. Macdonald Center in Hartford, USA, and a pioneer of Christian-Muslim dialogue, has produced three significant essays on Prophet Muhammad’s status from the Christian perspective.

In his first essay, “The Prophet Muhammad: Toward A Christian Assessment”, Kerr examines the prophethood of Muhammad in the light of Quranic accounts by putting aside the question of whether Christians can acknowledge the Quran as the word of God or not. For, according to him, the answer to this question does not change the following facts.

First, he says that Prophet Muhammad sincerely believed that the Quran came to him from God. Second, the Quran provides us with “an accurate guide to his understanding of his ministry” (25).

In the light of this clarification about his source, Kerr explains his approach as follows: “Ethically the paper starts from the premise that Muhammad was a man of utter spiritual and moral seriousness and sincerity, as Muslims themselves believe…” (24).

After this methodological explanation, Kerr tries to outline the ministry of the Prophet Muhammad in the light of Quranic accounts and seerah literature. After drawing the similarities between Biblical and Quranic teachings on ethical issues and peace, he argues that they offer Christians “a firm basis for Christian interest in Muhammad’s ministry as part of their dialogue with them” (28).

At the end of the essay, he strongly maintains that he did not want to be involved in making a theological evaluation of Muhammad’s prophethood in the light of the Christian criterion, namely Jesus Christ. In doing so, it seems he wanted to stay outside “the long tradition of Christian polemical writings which have portrayed Muhammad as a ‘false prophet’” (34). Instead, he sought to understand Muhammad as he had understood himself in the Quran.

In his second essay “The Prophet Muhammad in Christian Theological Perspective”, Kerr attempts to make a theological evaluation of Muhammad’s prophethood. First of all, he repeats the Quranic accounts concerning the ministry of Muhammad as he did in his previous essay, and highlights the Quranic approach to inter-religious dialogue.

He then summarizes the past and present main Christian approaches as represented by Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox scholars to Muhammad’s prophethood. Since we have already discussed most of these above, we will turn to the conclusion where Kerr makes his own evaluation in the light of these approaches.

Here, Kerr argues that as a result of recent developments in Christians’ relation with people of other faiths in general, and Christian-Muslim dialogue in particular, the following points become obvious for Christians:

(1) God has universally revealed His will to all humankind in order to establish His own kingdom in the world.

(2) This Divine revelation has been universally witnessed by various communities and individuals.

(3) In the Judeo-Christian tradition, the Bible provides the interpretation of this revelation through the Old Testament prophets in the history of Israel, and through Jesus and the apostolic Church in the New Testament.

(4) In the Gospel of Christ, the Divine revelation is universally available for humankind.

(5) But, in light of the Biblical account that “God has left no people without a witness to His divine revelation”, Christians, through the universal activity of the Holy Spirit, can witness the availability of signs of Divine revelation.

Within the context of these points, Kerr arrives at the following conclusion:

Mohammad is manifestly such a sign “in the way of the prophets”, the Quran witnessing the universality of divine revelation, reiterating many of the fundamental perceptions of the Bible, and providing as it were a critical commentary on the more dogmatic aspects of particularly New Testament belief, and Mohammad exemplifying the application of the Quranic vision in society. (130)

What Kerr indicates by this evaluation is that Christians can regard Muhammad as a witness to God’s universal revelation, which was revealed in Jesus Christ for all humankind, no more than that. Within this context, it can be argued that according to Kerr, Muhammad could be a prophet who was inspired by the Trinitarian God and he is a ‘prophetic corrective’ for Christians as Küng stresses (6-21).

Muhammad is manifestly such a sign “in the way of the prophets”, the Quran witnessing the universality of divine revelation
In his second essay, “He Walked in the Path of the Prophets: Toward Christian Theological Recognition of the Prophethood of Muhammad”, Kerr observes some renowned twentieth century Christian scholars whose views “create theological space for Muhammad as a ‘post-Christian’ prophet within their… theological understanding of the Christian tradition”.

By following the footsteps of his first essay, he says that his intention was not to develop a proper Christian answer to the question of Muhammad’s prophethood as Cragg did, but rather to “confuse Christian confessional and ecumenical statements about the theological importance” of it (428).

After highlighting some important aspects of their views, Kerr rightly points out that those who use theological Christian criteria in their evaluations of Muhammad’s prophethood “largely fail to address Islamic understanding of prophecy and prophethood”.

But as has been stated above, he assesses Prophet Muhammad in light of the Christian revelation which was attested to in Christ. Lastly, he argues that the solution to the question of Muhammad’s prophethood very much depends on the understanding of Islamic revelation anew in the light of modern scientific developments (441).

By this argument, Kerr indicates that if Muslims re-read the Quran whilst taking into account modern scientific methods, as some Muslim scholars such as Fazlur Rahman did, then Christians and Muslims will be able to reach a mutual understanding about thestatus ofProphet Muhammad.

Kerr outlines his main ideas about whether Christians can accept Muhammad as a prophet or not at the end of his second essay.

As has been observed so far, Kerr outlines his main ideas about whether Christians can accept Muhammad as a prophet or not at the end of his second essay. Here, he follows the main principles of the inclusive Christian theology of religions. In doing so, he first took the universality of God’s revelation of His word as his starting point.

Second, he emphasized the particularity of this Divine revelation in Jesus Christ.

Third, he argues that this should not be understood that there will be no sign of this Divine revelation after Jesus Christ.

Lastly, he maintains that if Christians look for the signs of God’s revelation through the power of the Holy Spirit, they can conclude that “Muhammad is manifestly such a sign ‘in the way of the prophets’”. This theological explanation explicitly indicates that according to Kerr, Muhammad was not a prophet, but just a sign to the prophets. This clearly contradicts his intention, whereby he wants to understand Muhammad as he understood himself.

Implications for Christian-Muslim Dialogue
When we think of Christian accounts of the status and prophethood of Muhammad as a whole, theologically speaking, we may argue that the following points can contribute to the development of Christian-Muslim understanding.

First, all of them emphasize the necessity for a Christian reassessment of the status of Prophet Muhammad. This whereby a theological space is created for him in the history of prophecy and by rejecting all past distorted images of him.

Second, by accepting the Quran as the primary source, and early Islamic sourcesas reliable and trustworthy for the assessment ofthe life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad, Christians can deal with the question of Prophet Muhammad more positively as is seen in Watt’s efforts.

Furthermore, our examination shows that a phenomenological approach to the question can lead Christians to observe the practical influence of Muhammad and his teachings on his followers (Muslims). By doing so, they find the opportunity to compare Muhammad with the other prophets, especially those of the Old Testament, who were recognized as prophets by the Christians in order to observe their similarities before arriving at a decision concerning the status of prophet Muhammad as seen in the works of Watt and Küng.

Third, by taking into account the similarities between Muhammad and the Old Testament prophets, Christians are given the opportunity to acknowledge Muhammad as a prophet just as they acknowledge the Old Testament prophets without downgrading their own religious beliefs, that is, by doing this, they are not comparing him with Jesus Christ.

Recognizing the prophethood of Muhammad in this way naturally leads to the following conclusion: Christians concede that Muhammad was not a false prophet as has been claimed by the majority of non-Muslims from the advent of Islam to our modern age, but rather, a genuine prophet who brought God’s message to humanity.

Fourth, as Küng rightly remarks, Christian re-assessments of the status and prophethood of Muhammad in the process of Christian-Muslim dialogue can lead Muslims to deal with those Quranic verses that concern Jesus (111). This by taking into account Christian sources, namely the Gospels, as is seen in the case of the Muslim scholar, Muhammad Ayoub (“Islamic Christology” 91–121; “Miracle” 221–227; “Son” 65–81). This, too, then can create a more positive environment for a better Christian-Muslim understanding.

Fifth, as we have pointed out earlier, those who defend the positive appreciation of the prophethood of Muhammad have stimulated official Church authorities to break their silence (as is seen in the documents of the Second Vatican Council) by referring to Prophet Muhammad positively in their official statements such as “Guidelines for Dialogue Between Christian and Muslims” and the European Church statement “Witness to God in Secular Europe”.

Allah almighty had supported these weak creatures with very sensitive prediction systems….

Allah almighty had supported these weak creatures with very sensitive prediction systems for earthquakes which are considered to be more advanced than any other human tool, it hears the emitted sounds from earth two days before the earthquake!!…..

On May 5th, 2008 many Chinese had noticed thousands of frogs on the move.

They were seen traveling without fear of traffic as they crossed streets in mass floods. The Chinese government told them that it was just a natural migration for the purpose of propagation. This calmed the people and no one took the omen very seriously.

But on Monday, 12th of May, at about 2:45pm, central China region recorded a 7.8 magnitude quake which occurred near Wenchuan County, Sichuan province that killed nearly 10,000 people.

Many civilian houses and roads were collapsed and damaged. In one Dujiangyan city middle school, 900 students and teachers were buried in the collapsed building, at least 50 were killed.

Chinese earthquake damaged many areas in china and killed thousands of people and let many hundreds thousands of homeless, indeed it is a warning from Allah not only for Chinese but for all people, also it is some kind of torture, God says. (And verily, We will make them taste of the near torment (i.e. the torment in the life of this world, i.e. disasters, calamities, etc.) prior to the supreme torment (in the Hereafter), in order that they may (repent and) return (i.e. accept Islam).)(Sûrat As-Sajdah-verse 21).

The quake was the largest the region has seen for over a generation. It was so strong, even countries like Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong felt the shake. Many people called the Chinese Earthquake Test Centers “useless”, as they were unable to even detect the earthquake before it happened. When they finally announced the earthquake had occurred, it was 12 minutes after the disaster, and 2 minutes after the US had announced a large earthquake in China.

As for the Frogs and their omen, Chinese scientists stated animals have much better sense than human on detecting the natural disasters like this.

“Although it’s difficult to prove that toads “predicted” the quake, it’s certainly not impossible. We know that animals sense pre-earthquake micro-tremors, and react to underground water movements, or even changes in the composition of the air. It’s just that these theories haven’t been scientifically proven yet” Says Pascal Bernard a researcher in a team of seismologists at the Jussieu University in Paris.

Allah almighty had supported these frogs by very sensitive detection systems as it can detect and measure low frequencies that human can’t hear but it can be detected by animals like elephants, birds, whales and frogs. So, it can run away from the area two days before the earthquake. Glory to Allah!!!!

The believer shouldn’t ignore such information, because he or she knows very well that Allah almighty didn’t create anything for nothing as every thing in our world was created for a specific purpose but we may not know that purpose.

Today, scientists are studying this phenomenon to figure out the used technique by those small animals to enable us to discover an effective system to predict earthquakes.

Hence we have to realize that these animals are subjected for us by the divine power to be evidence on the extreme power of the creator and to let us to learn from those weak animal as a message for the man to not to be arrogant or transcendent. God says, (And has subjected to you all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth; it is all as a favor and kindness from Him. Verily, in it are signs for a people who think deeply)(Sûrat Al-Jâthiyah-verse13).

Shouldn’t we deeply think in these signs and work hardly to do good deeds may Allah protect us from His torture?

We have to invoke our God be He blessed and exalted. He says .( Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret. He likes not the aggressors.*and do not do mischief on the earth, after it has been set in order, and invoke Him with fear and hope. Surely, Allah’s Mercy is (ever) near unto the good-doers.)(Sûrat Al-A‘râf-verse 55-56).

——————–

There are some who do not admit the infallibility of the Prophet, and they depend on some evidence as for example the chapter of (Abasa (He Frowned) :Chapter no.80 ) and also when the Prophet (PBUH) flattered his wives and the holy verse descended from Allah to order him to stop that.

- The reply on this suspicion

The infallibility of the Prophet (PBUH) and the infallibility of all messengers (PBUT) should be understood in the limits of the position of the Messenger and the purpose of the message, that the messenger is a human being who is inspired by Allah; which means that in spite of his human qualities, he has a special contact with the heaven by inspiration. So this task needs some characteristics which are found by the Almighty Allah in all messengers chosen for this task to balance between their human characteristics and their position and special task which they are demanded for.

The Messenger is commissioned to tell ,call for, and fight for applying and setting the message up. And people were ordered to obey the messenger as apart of obeying Allah (glory be to him)

“Obey Allah and obey the messenger” (An Nissa’: 59)

“He who obeys the Messenger (Muhammad), has indeed obeyed Allah” (An Nissa’:80)

” Say (O Muhammad to mankind): “If you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Qur’an and the Sunnah), Allah will love you “( Aal Imraan:31)

“Say (O Muhammad): “Obey Allah and the Messenger (Muhammad)” (Aal Imraan:32)

So the infallibility of the Messengers in what they tell about ِAllah is necessary for believing and trusting the divine call which the messengers are chosen to fulfill.

The nature of mind besides won’t believe in this message unless the sender of the message chooses the trustful messenger in order to make his message believable and truthful. So Allah chooses carefully His messengers whom He qualifies by infallibility to add more truth and trust upon the divine call. And this infallibility at the same time is the evidence that this call is right

In order to express the general point of view of the Islamic nation in the necessity of the infallibility of all messengers in what they tell about the Almighty Allah ,imam Mohammed Abdo says:-

“…and these necessary things that must found in messengers are: their high innate, wise minds, truthfulness, integrity in telling what they are commanded, infallibility against what disgraces their reputation, good looking bodies and that their souls are so linked with the divine greatness that their inner feelings can not control them .

Out of the wisdom of the Almighty creator- who created man upon the base of education and guidance-He left one important quality -out of His generosity – for the people whom He chose from his creatures to carry His message. So He favors His messengers by high sense innate and raises their souls high to reach the perfection in order to be ready for receiving and keeping the secrets of the divine lights of knowledge.

By this knowledge Allah permits His messengers to know some of the future and what will happen to people in the future. The messengers live among people in a high rank; they are in life as they are not from its people, they are not like the people in their contacting and telling about the heaven, but in the same time they have their human sides e.g. they eat, sleep, drink, forget-except in addressing about Allah and His teachings-, get sick, get harmed, get oppressed and may get killed.

Infallibility, like a miracle, is one of the necessities of the message’s trustfulness and the wisdom of the one who sent all messengers (peace be upon them). The messenger is like any ordinary man, physically his body is like all other people, and as a diligent person he is making consultations, making up his mind, thinking and choosing between many choices in matters that no divine inspiration is given to him. Here he has to act according to his human side; so he may be right and may be wrong.

But he is infallible in the topics and cases which are inspired to him from the Almighty Allah, because if he may forget or be wronged in such cases, people will doubt his message. So infallibility is an original characteristic and a necessary condition in all messengers (peace be upon them).

“Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. It is only an Inspiration that is inspired”. (An-Najm 3,4)

The messenger’s utterances are not the human ones; it means that his orders are the orders of Allah, so obeying him is obeying Allah and without infallibility messengers can not get such high rank.

The exertions of the Prophet (PBUH) in the cases that he doesn’t get the solution inspired were a result of his human abilities and making up his mind so he may be right and may be wrong as it happen to all people. So we see how his companions -may Allah be pleased with them – in many cases ask Muhammad (PBUH) -before giving their points of view- whether his point of view or his exertion .. etc is inspired to him or not . If he says that it is a divine inspiration they obey him with no question, because here obeying him is obeying Allah who asks him to tell His orders.

For the orders of Allah, messengers are infallible in telling them, that they are just tellers where there is no place for committing mistakes. And the companions obeyed the orders of the Messenger blindly even if they can not understand the near benefits from these orders, because they know that the knowledge of Allah- the source of inspiration- is unlimited but their knowledge is limited; they may not understand the wise reasons behind these laws but the almighty Allah only knows.

But when the Messenger tells his companions that his exertion expresses his own point of view and it is not inspired to him, at once they give their points of view. They think and correct his decisions if he is mistaken because here he depends only on his human qualities which may be right or wrong.

There are a lot of examples in the books of Sonna and in the biography of Muhammad which prove that he changed his opinion when he found that there is on better than his’;e.g. when they wanted to choose the place of their camp in the battlefield of Badr:

(it happened that there was a well in the battlefield it was called Badr and the Messenger (PBUH) chose to camp behind the well. Then one of the companions called Elhabab Ibn Almunther came and asked the Messenger if their position was chosen by Allah or it was just his opinion, the Messenger replied that this was his opinion. Alhabab said that it was a bad position and they should put the well in their back to drink from it and prevent Quraish from drinking from it; and so they did. Many other examples; as their point of view in the captives of the battle of Badr and their point of view in making peace with some of those who were from the allies against the Muslims in the battle of the Trench………etc.

Allah wants for Muhammad to be the model and the example for the whole nation to follow:

“Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad ) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much“.( Al-Ahzâb: 21 )

And because Allah does not want for the people to take a wrong prophetic exertion as a model, He sent the inspiration to correct and even blame the Prophet for his wrong exertions and choices e.g.

The Prophet) frowned and turned away*Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. ‘Abdullâh bin Umm-Maktûm, who came to the Prophet while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs)*And how can you know that he might become pure (from sins)?*Or he might receive admonition, and the admonition might profit him?* As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, To him you attend; What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief: you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allâh).But as to him who came to you running,And is afraid (of Allâh and His punishment).Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another,”(Abasa:1-10 )

“O Prophet! Why do you ban (for yourself) that which Allah has made lawful to you, seeking to please your wives? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Allah has already ordained for you (O men), the dissolution of your oaths. And Allah is your Maula Lord, or Master, or Protector, etc.) and He is the All-Knower, the All-Wise. And (remember) when the Prophet disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his wives (Hafsah),so when she told it (to another i.e. ‘Aishah), and Allah made it known to him, he informed part thereof and left a part. Then when he told her (Hafsah) thereof, she said: “Who told you this?” He said: “The All-Knower, the All-Aware (Allah) has told me“.( At-Tahrîm :1-3 )

“It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war (and free them with ransom) until he had made a great slaughter (among his enemies) in the land. You desire the good of this world (i.e. the money of ransom for freeing the captives), but Allah desires (for you) the Hereafter. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. Were it not a previous ordainment from Allah, a severe torment would have touched you for what you took.”(Al-Anfâl :67-68 )

The infallibility of the Messenger (may peace and prayers of Allah be upon him) is a necessary condition in order to prove the truth of the message and to gain confidence on the divine call. And without this infallibility there will not be any difference between the messenger and any other reformer or wise man. And so there will not be any difference between the invincible and infallible inspiration and the human philosophies and achievements which may be right or wrong. Without infallibility the message become as the human utterances but with the infallibility the message becomes the utterances of Allah -glory be to him-who is giving his words to the infallible person (all Prophets & Messengers). So the infallibility of the teller proves the infallibility of the message, and it is also the condition that proves the wisdom of the one who chose the Messenger, sent and inspired him this message.

The worst advice I was given while being a new convert to Islam was: to take it easy, not to make it hard on myself.

Prayer is a way of showing submission, obedience, and gratitude to Allah.

The worst advice I was given while being a new convert to Islam was: to take it easy, not to make it hard on myself.

Prayer is a way of showing submission, obedience, and gratitude to Allah.

“You don’t have to pray five times every day,” they said. “Start with as many as you can, and then add to them”.

I am sure their intention was only to help me and to not put a burden on my shoulders. Their advice led me to praying only once a day, or twice a week, or not at all for some time, and then to start all over again from the beginning.

Then I came across the following verse of the Quran and the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him):

[...And perform the prayer and be not of the disbelievers.] (Ar-Rum 30:31)

Prophet Muhammad said, “The covenant between us (Muslims) and them (non-Muslims) is the prayer. Whoever abandons it, is a disbeliever.” (Malik)

He also said,

“Verily between a person and polytheism and unbelief is the negligence of prayer.” (Muslim)

“The first act that the slave of Allah will be accountable for on the Day of Judgment will be prayer. If it is good, then the rest of his acts will be good, and if it is bad, then the rest of his acts will be bad.” (At-Tabarani)

I felt a chill going down my spine. I wasn’t praying daily, so immediately I wondered: “Am I among those people? Am I a disbeliever? Is prayer really that important?”

“I believe in Allah and Islam is my religion. But if my words and heart speakof the truth, then what about my actions? Isn’t prayer one of the five pillars in which Islam is erected upon?” I thought to myself.

Prophet Muhammad said, “Prayer is the pillar of the religion.” (Al-Baihaqi)

Islam is like a building, supported by five columns. Remove one column and the entire building weakens.

I then understood that I was wrong. I asked Allah to forgive me for my ignorance, and to increase my faith and knowledge in religion.

I started praying the five daily prayers willingly and continuously, and decided to search deeper on the subject of prayer in order to comprehend why we actually need to pray. Why did Allah, who created us and knows our nature better than anyone else, order us to pray five times a day? What is the significance of prayer?

Allah says in the Quran, which Muslims believe is the word of God, what means,

[Verily I am Allah: There is no god but I: so serve Me (only) and establish prayer for my remembrance.] (Ta-Ha 20:24)

In these verses of the Quran, Allah explains to us that the establishment of prayer is for His remembrance.

As humans are forgetful by nature, prayer reminds them of the allegiance due to their Creator and Lord. If prayer was needed fourteen hundred years ago when people did not lead such a busy lifestyle, then it is even more necessary in today’s hectic world.

On the other hand, education and work keep people occupied constantly.

And when it is time to relax, Satan has many channels to operate through.

People become so engrossed in this life that they have no thought for Allah and the Hereafter. The need to remind humans of the realities of His existence has thus intensified and not declined in modern times. Prayer is still of utmost importance and benefit in our high-tech lives.

Prayer acts as a shield against evil. Allah Almighty says in the Quran what means,

[Verily the prayer prevents from great sins of every kind, unlawful sexual intercourse, and disbelief and every kind of evil wicked deed.] (Al-`Ankabut 29:45)

I then began to realize that we perform prayers for our own benefit and not because Allah needs it as He is free of any need. Prayer constitutes a physical, mental, and spiritual submission to Allah. It is a concrete proof of our submission to Him. It fulfills our very purpose of creation which is to worship Allah throughout our lives.

[So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him). And worship your Lord until there comes unto you what is certain (death).] (Al-Hijr 15:98-99)

Every time we pray, we have to remember that Allah is with those who fear and those who do good deeds. He sees us standing forth in prayer, for it is He who knows all things.

Prayer trains us to be punctual, disciplined, and conscious of our duties. While in congregation, it promotes a bond of brotherhood, unity, and equality among Muslim worshippers.

When we pray, we develop obedience, patience, trust ,honesty, piety, fear, humbleness, modesty ,truthfulness, love, devotion, and other virtues acceptable to Allah.

One of the amazing sayings of Prophet Muhammad is,

“Whenever a Muslim prays, seeking the pleasure of Allah, his or her sins start falling like the leaves of a tree.” (Ahmad)

Is there a better medicine or a better psychotherapy than the words of this hadith? Whatever you are going through: worries, stress, financial problems, family difficulties, loss of loved ones, feeling guilty for mistakes or sins you have committed, these words of the Prophet Muhammad bring peace, tranquility, and hope, and they demonstrate Allah’s mercy and love for His slaves.

So, I came to the conclusion that prayer is not a burden forced upon mankind, but it is the inner cry of every soul, a cry of each heart to recognize its Creator.

It is but a small token of gratitude for all the innumerable bounties bestowed upon mankind by the Creator. That’s when I realized why before converting to Islam, every time I saw Muslims praying I was feeling jealous.

They seemed to have something I didn’t have, and my soul was in need of this constant communication with the One who created me and guided me from darkness to light.

In our everyday lives, we smile and say a warm thank you to the small acts of kindness which others do for us. So what about thanking Allah Who in His infinite mercy has provided us with all our needs?

Just observe the beauty and perfection of the earth around you and fall down in gratitude to your Lord!

By Michael David Shapiro

I am ethnically a Russian Jew. My quest began when I was 19 years old. I was recovering from my stint with Scientology (yes I was brainwashed into it).

My belief in God was uncertain. My goals in life were to be a rock star. I was living in my Pasadena apartment and working as a secretary. Funny, I know.

One night I was walking to the kitchen, and encountered a dark fellow. I remembered asking him: “Can I keep this vodka in the fridge tonight?” We shook hands and went to sleep. After that point, my life changed drastically…

This dark fellow, a Muslim, was the first Muslim I had ever met. Extremely curious, I conversed with him about his faith. What’s this stuff I hear about praying 5 times a day? And about Holy War? Who is this Mohammed guy?

Our talks were accompanied by our Christian roommate, Wade. Together, we created “The Jewish, Christian, and Muslim dialogue sessions”. In it, we discovered many differences, and many commonalities.

My interest had then shifted from sex, drugs, and parties, to a massive search for the truth. A search that I had to complete. A search for God. And a search for how to follow him.

In my quest for the truth, I asked myself: “Ok let’s start simple, how many God’s do I think are out there?” I figured only one; knowing that a divided God is weaker than One God; figuring that if one God didn’t agree with the other, there might be arguments and feuds. One God was my choice.

Once I opened up my mind to the possibility of the existence of God, I analyzed both atheist and theist beliefs. The thing that directed me to the latter was the quote “Every design has a designer”. With that in mind, eventually I woke up with certainty that God exists. I can’t explain why, I just felt it somehow.

This newfound excitement was accompanied by a sense of responsibility to follow the Creator. The world of religion was my next frontier.

Then I asked myself, “Where do I start?” There are literally thousands of them. I need a way to narrow them down to a just a few. How do I accomplish such a task? “Find the ones that are monotheistic” entered my mind. “Hey that makes sense, since I believe in only One God.”

Ok, then. This ruled out Buddhism and Hinduism, both being polytheistic faiths. The major religions I encountered that fell under the title of Monotheistic, where Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Well since I’m a Jew, I started with Judaism. One God, some prophets, 10 commandments, Torah, Jewish souls…uh, what: “Jewish souls?”

While doing research this idea was brought to my attention. The story goes, “if a person is born Jewish, then they have a Jewish soul, and they must follow Judaism.” Hold on a sec…that’s discrimination, isn’t it? That’s not universal.

So God makes Jewish souls, and Christian souls, and Muslim souls, and Hindu souls? I thought all men are created equal? So, because one is born into a religion that means by the decree of God he must remain in it… even if the person believes it to be false? Hmm…I don’t agree with that.

Another thing really bothered me…there is no strict concept of hell in Judaism…then why be good? Why not sin? If I don’t have fear of strict punishment, then why should I be moral?

Moving on, I discovered Christianity. Ok, one God, a father, a son, and a holy ghost…one more time: one God, a father, a son, and a holy ghost. Uhhh, please explain. How can all those things be one God? 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 right? So how can you say you believe in only one God?

Explanation after explanation, equation after equation, comparison after comparison, analogy after analogy, I couldn’t grasp this concept. Ok let’s keep looking here.

Ok, next major doctrine: Jesus died for our sins and he did this because we all are polluted with “Original Sin”. So, Jesus Christ, the “son of God”, had to be murdered to save everyone from Hell and cure us of our sin “given” to us by Adam.

Ok then, so are you saying that we are all born as sinners? And to sin is to do something wrong right? Then you’re telling me that a one-year old baby is guilty of sin or doing something wrong? Ok that’s strange, so based on the actions of one man, all of mankind must suffer? What’s the moral of that story? Punish the whole group if one deviates? Why would God create such a rule? That’s just not in agreement with my logic.

So Jesus died because he “loves mankind”. Hold on, it says in the Bible that Jesus said “father, why have you forsaken me?” So, apparently, Jesus didn’t understand why he was being brutally murdered. But you just said he “volunteered” to be sacrificed. Anyway, I couldn’t accept this belief. Ok, what’s the next religion?

Islam. Islam means submission. The main beliefs are as follows: One God, worship God five times a day, give 2.5% annual charity, fast during Ramadan (to be closer to God and appreciate life…among other reasons) and finally journey to Mecca for Hajj if you are able financially. Ok, nothing hard to understand so far.

There’s nothing that conflicts with my logic here. The Quran is a book with all of these interesting miracles and timeless wisdom. Many scientific facts only discovered recently where proclaimed 1400 years ago in this book.

Ok, Islam had passed my initial religious prerequisites. But I wanted to ask some deep questions about it. Is this religion universal? Yes, anyone can understand these basic beliefs…no analogy or equation are needed. Does it agree with science? Yes, dozens of verses in the Quran agree with modern science and technology.

As I sifted through the countless logical facts that I read through and researched, one thing took my attention the most. “Islam”. The name of this religion. I noticed it is written many times in this Quran.

However, recalling my prior studies, I didn’t remember once seeing the word “Judaism” in the Old Testament or “Christianity” in the New Testament. This was BIG. Why couldn’t I find the very name of the religions in those two books? Because, there is no name in these books! Thinking…I noticed that “Judaism” could be broken down to “Juda- ism” and “Christianity” could be respectively “Christ-ianity”.

So who is Juda? Or Judah, rather. He was the tribe leader of the Hebrews when God revealed his message to mankind. So this religion was named after…a person. Ok let’s look at who Christ is. He was the person who delivered the message of God to the Jews. So this religion was named after…a person.

So in recollection, we can deduct that the names of these religions are people’s proper names attached to “ism” and “ianity”. Regardless of that fact, the very names of those religions are not mentioned in their scriptures. I thought that was very odd.

If I went door to door selling a product, and I said “Would you like to buy this _______”? Wouldn’t the logical question be: “What is this _____ called?” I would make no money off of a product without a name.

Naming is the very basis which humans identify with objects, both physical and non-physical. If religion is supposed to be practiced and spread to every person on earth, shouldn’t there be a NAME for it?

Moreover, shouldn’t the name be given to us from God Almighty? YES, my point exactly. The names “Christianity” and “Judaism” were not written in the Holy Scriptures. Humans named them, not God. The notion that God would ordain a religion for mankind to follow without a name is impossible for my mind to accept.

At that point, both Christianity and Judaism lost their credibility as pure, logical, and complete religions, at least from my perspective.

Islam is the ONLY of these religions to include the NAME of the religion in its scriptures. This is so huge for me.

I realized I would follow Islam at that point. I then became a Muslim. I knew the truth. I was out of the darkness. I came into the light…

Description: From a broken family and society, a woman finds support from some Muslim friends.
By Angel

Every Muslim has a story about their journey to Islam. Each one is interesting and curious to me. God truly guides who he wants and only who he wants. I feel so blessed to have been one of the chosen. Here is my story.

I always believed in one God. My entire life during hardship, I asked God for help even as a child. I remember crying on my knees in the kitchen, screaming and crying all around me. I was praying for God to make it stop. Religion on the other hand never did make sense. The older I got, the less it really made sense to me. People thinking they were the negotiator between you and God.

I felt the same about Jesus, [may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him]. How does it work that this man would save us all from our sins? Why do we have the right to sin just because of him? I refused the bible in all of its versions, believing something translated and rewritten so many times could not to be the real words of God. Around the age of fifteen I had given up on the idea of finding God.

Growing up, my family was the average American family. Everyone I knew had similar problems growing up. My dad was a hardworking blue collar alcoholic. As time progressed his condition worsened, and so did his perversion. Sexual abuse, physical abuse, and fear made an imprint on my childhood that would reflect the rest of my life. He passed away when I was in the sixth grade. My parents had divorced by then. I was the youngest of eight children. My mother would go to work to support us, and I was home alone a lot.

Here I was, one of those kids who pull from society, who scare people when they walk into a room. I began wearing black clothing and the dark makeup. I listened to the gothic music and fantasized about death. Death seemed to be less of fear and more of solution to this growing problem. I felt alone all time, even around friends. I tried to fill the gap with cigarettes, then alcohol, sex, drugs and then anything that would take me from my own thoughts. I tried to kill myself at least fifteen times. No matter what I tried this pain inside of me never seemed to subside.

I was in college when I became pregnant with my son, I feared for my son’s health and could not dream of giving him away. I worked endlessly to provide for my son. Squeezing all the pain and anger into my heart, I changed my life some. By this time, I trusted no one. Three years later, I started to date again. I got engaged. I truly wanted to have the something more. As with all of my past experiences, my world came crashing down. I was 25 and pregnant with my daughter and ended the relationship with my fiancé after he repeatedly cheated and physically hurt me. I had no idea what was next.

During this time I was working for a Pakistani guy who was Muslim. I never watched the news or even cared really what was going on. Being Muslim to me was no different than any other religion. As time moved on I became friends with several Muslim men. I began to notice something dramatically different. They had these unquestionable morals. A devotion to God in a way that required them to pray five times a day. Let alone the fact that they did not drink or do drugs. For my generation this was old school morals, maybe your grandparents might have followed.

When my daughter was born, you can’t imagine my surprise when one of these guys came in and brought gifts. I was shocked stupid he held her and spoke to her. I had never seen men behave this way over a baby. The kindness only increased with time over the next four months. I can’t express the love that was shown to us. Slowly my interest in their religion grew. I was curious as to what kind of religion could instill these kinds of values into people.

I was sharing a home with seven people when one night I decided to borrow my roommate’s computer. I was too afraid to offend my friends by asking them questions, so I turned to the internet. The first site I opened was http://www.islam-brief-guide.org. I was dumb founded. It was if a black cloth had been lifted from my body, and I swear to you that I had never felt so close to God. Within twenty-four hours, I took my Shahadah.

To this day the majority of my time is spent on research. For the first time in my life something had stopped the anger, and the pain. I truly felt the love and fear of God. God had replaced the pain inside of me with his light, and faith in him. Since my conversion, God has truly blessed me. God gave me the strength to quite smoking, drinking and have not used drugs in almost two years. I am married to a wonderful Muslim man. He has taken my children and made them ours. I have something that I always wanted – a family, [all praise is due to God].

The Prophet is the best ideal to follow in your life…

He is the only personality in history to be followed in everything…

-If you are rich so follow the Prophet when he was a merchant traveling with his products between Hijaz and Ash-Sham and when he earned Bahrain’s stores

-If you are poor so take him as an example when he was under blockade in the col (mountain pass) of Abu Taleb and when he emigrated to Madinah leaving his country without having anything…

-If you are a king so follow him in his “Sunna” (All his doings and sayings) when he guided the Arabs and was obeyed by all, even great personalities.

-If you are a weak person so take the Prophet as an example when he was accused in Makkah within the atheist system.

-If you are a conqueror, you can share part of his life when he conquered his enemy in the Battle of Badr, Honayn and Makkah

-If you are defeated, take a moral lesson from the Battle of Uhod when he (PBUH)was among his dead and wounded friends…

-If you are a teacher take him an example when he taught his companions in the Masjed.

-If you are a student or seeking for more education, follow him (PBUH) when he was sitting between Gabriel’s hands learning and understanding his Message…

-If you are an advisor, faithful consulter so listen to him when he advised the people in his Masjed of Madinah…

-If you are an Orphan, you have to know that the Muhammad’s father died before his birth and his mother when he (PBUH) was still a child…

-And as for children he was that cute and polite child living his first years with his child-minder Halima Assa’diyah …

-If you are young so read the biography of the shepherd of Makkah…

-If you are a merchant traveling with some goods, so notice the behaviors of the caravan’s leader who went to Busra…

-If you are a judge or evaluator, so look at the Prophet’s judgment when he went to Ka’ba and saw the leaders of the tribes about to kill each other because they were struggling about who is the one to put the black stone in its place, and the Prophet –of course- resolved the problem. And also when he was in Madinah judging equally between people no matter if they are rich or poor…

-If you are a husband so read the Prophet’s biography about the honest life of Khadijah’s and Aisha’s husband.

-And if you are a father, so learn how to treat your children as he (PBUH) did with his daughters and grandchildren…

No matter who you are … you have the Prophet’s biography; your guide and candle lightning the darkness of your daily life helping you to go through it to gain the hereafter….

He is indeed the greatest personality all over the world.

All Nations and Countries are proud of their great people and heroes and depend on them in writing their History and building their Glories.

We didn’t hear, read or know someone greater than our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in what he offered to his Nation and to all Mankind.

Muhammad has given the greatest qualities by the Almighty Allah…

He is justice: Who said:” If Fatima- my daughter – did steal, I would cut her hand.”

He is modest: Who said to a woman who was awed by him:”Calm down; I’m just the son of a woman from Quraish who used to eat dried Bread.”

He is the worshiper: Who used to pray till he get swelled legs and cracked feet; so that his wife Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) told him:” Oh Messenger of Allah, why are you doing that to yourself since Allah overlooked all your past and future faults? The Prophet replied:” That’s why I like to be a thankful worshiper.”

The Prophet is also described as being so generous with no fear of poverty

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said” Muhammad never refused helping anyone for the sake of Islam. He gave a man a drove of sheep so that the man went back to his tribe saying:” Follow Muhammad who is so generous and doesn’t fear poverty.”

“He also gave Safwan bin Umaiah in the Day of Hunain 100’s of cattle.” Narrated by Muslim

Who is as generous as him (PBUH)?

Who can give such gifts except him (PBUH).

Even the rich never give such gifts, and if they do, because they are rich, but Muhammad gives and may spend days hungry!

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: “Muhammad was very generous especially in the holy month of Ramadan (the fasting month).”

“The Prophet once received 70 thousand Dirham and started to give all needy till all the money finished.” Narrated by Abu Al Sheikh

He is the brave Leader who stands in the front lines in all Battles

Al Baraa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:” We were protecting ourselves behind the Prophet when the Battles were very strong and the bravest among us was fighting side by side with him (PBUH).” Narrated by Muslim

And Ali (May Allah by pleased with him) reported:” When the Battles were overpowered, we were protecting ourselves behind the Prophet.” Narrated by Ahmad, and many other scholars.

*Notice that Al Baraa’ (the reporter of the 1st Hadith) is a very brave man, where as Ali (the reporter of the 2ed Hadith) is so much famous in his bravery and courage.

See how the bravest of men were not as brave as Muhammad (PBUH).

A man told Al Baraa’:” how could you leave the Prophet in the Day of Hunain?” Al Baraa’ replied “But the Prophet did not.” Agreed upon.

Al Baraa’ also said:” The Prophet was the best, the bravest and the most generous among all.”

He was gentle and patient with those hurting him (PBUH). When he conquered Makkah he forgave his folk who hurt and insulted him for years.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: “A man came to the Prophet and spoke to him in a very bad way saying:” Oh Muhammad, give me some of Allah’s gifts you have.” The Prophet looked at him and smiled, then he ordered giving him the money he needed.” Agreed upon

Muhammad is the one having all great qualities and generous merits. Allah describes him in his Holy Quran ”for the believers he is full of pity, kind and merciful.” (9/128) Quran

Al Hassan Al Basri said commenting on a verse in the Holy Quran:”It was by the mercy of Allah that you were lenient with them “(3/159) Quran , he commented:” This is Muhammad’s morals, mentioned by the Almighty Allah.”

Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said in describing the Prophet:” He was the most generous among men, the most delighted, the most honest in speech, very lenient, the best in companionship, respected by anyone seeing him, loved by anyone knowing him and the one describing him must say” I never saw and wont see anybody like him.” Narrated by Al Tirmithi, Abi Shaiba and Al Baihaki

This is just a drop out of a sea full of great qualities of the Prophet….

This is a reminder to everyone reading…

These are Muhammad’s Morals….So where are the real lovers and real followers?

Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him.

It’s really amazing to find the best air conditioner in the world inside a small bee!! Without that conditioner bee would die and becomes incapable to produce honey…

Recently, scientists discovered that inside the bee there is a very complicated system to organize its temperature; we think the bee is an irrational creature but in fact it can detect the ambient temperature to adjust its own which is normally from 28 to 32 degree centigrade [1],that is so important to keep life of small bees. Any increase or decrease in temperature more or less the average will cause the death of small bees. Glory to Allah!!!

If temperature increases more than 32C, bee starts to shake its wings in order to fan and cool the small bees. And if temperature became less than 28C bees vibrate their wing muscles to shunt heat down to their abdomen, According to Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology magazine the scientists had performed an experiment by reducing the temperature around the bee by ten degrees and despite that, bees had easily raised their temperature to about 30c.

“You can see them shiver to transfer the heat,” says Sean O’Donnell of the University of Washington in the US.

Glory to Allah!! How can this small creature adjust its temperature? and who taught her that mechanism?

Scientists have no answer about that precise mechanism which adjusts the temperature of bees. Those scientists may say that the mechanism is done by nature or evolution but Allah almighty told us about mechanism in bees in saying. (And your Lord inspired the bees, saying: “Take you habitations in the mountains and in the trees and in what they erect.*Then, eat of all fruits, and follow the ways of your Lord made easy (for you).” There comes forth from their bellies, a drink of varying color wherein is healing for men. Verily, in this is indeed a sign for people who think.)(Sûrat An-Nahl- verse68-69).

From that verse we can conclude the following:

1. The word “inspired” means that Allah almighty is the only one who taught the bee everything not the nature or evolution.

2. Also, Allah almighty says “inspired” which is in the past which means that He almighty did that and no one in the future will be able to change what He almighty did.

3. By that inspiration He almighty enabled the bee to live on earth to serve human by producing Honey.

Therefore, scientists confirm that without this precise system for temperature detection and organizing bees wouldn’t be able to live on earth and produce honey.

——————–

I read the Bible since seven years old. I began reading the Bible for kids in Spanish. My heroes were David, Nuh and Job.

When I was eleven, I prayed every night. Sometimes, I cried while speaking to God. In my adolescence, I fell into drugs until a crisis at twenty one years of age. I have always been searching for the truth.

At twenty four years I began to pray more, so I was praying twenty four times a day, one for Our Father, Two Ave Maria, One Credo and One Glory; under the water in the shower bowing on my knees under cold water (that was because there was no warm water). This I did for a whole year. But that didn’t help me too much, but God knows better.

In the beginning of last year, I was studying the Mayan codices, the Atlantis, the pyramid of Kufu, and at the same time I was studying the Arabic language just to know what the lyrics of the Arabic songs meant.

I began to study the Arabic language on my own, with the help of a book from the internet. In two weeks I could speak something, so when I made a test in college the teacher elevated me to the second level. I saved four months alhamdulillah, then I got into university; but I just took two classes. However, I stayed in contact with my teacher, through e-mails.

In the book fair, my mom took two little books for free about Islam. I read them, and the subjects of science mentioned in the Quran, seemed very interesting to me. And, I read about Muhammad and I felt that person was a model for me.

So, one day I left smoking and drinking. I never was a drunkard, but I left completely whatever was related to alcohol. That was my own decision, and I never thought of being a Muslim until the day I said my Shahadah.

I thought of buying a Quran to read something in Arabic and that way, learn faster. My teacher told me that I could get one for free, in the mosque of Palermo (Buenos Aires).

On the same day, I went to the mosque, just to ask for a Quran and I wondered how such a great place could be so empty. I understood that Argentina is not an Islamic country but that this mosque was the greatest in Latin America.

That day in the mosque a man, who would later become my brother in Islam – Ibrahim, gave me a link to the Quran that I could download from the internet, I later printed it. It was just an hour, and I had the Quran.

I was reading this Quran that I downloaded from the internet, and I printed some pages. The Quran I got was in Arabic and Spanish, that way I could read it in Arabic directly.

Since my childhood I have read the whole Bible twice, and the Gita from India also twice, and now I had the Quran to read, and much better, in Arabic. My first desire was to learn Arabic, but my soul awakened when I began to read the Quran. Maybe it was better because I began to read it in Arabic directly, while I was consulting a dictionary.

Alhamdulillah, I could realise that what the Quran says was the parts that were missing in the Bible. And I remember well, I understood as well when I read it that all that the Quran says could perfectly be the truth I was looking for.

No one spoke to me about Islam, just the searching of the truth that God put in me, led me there. The thankfulness to God I have is very great. The more I read the Quran, the more I realised the book was a revelation from God like the Bible.

Since then, I began to go to the mosque and in two weeks I said the Shahadah, on the 14th of July. Because, I was sure that Muhammad was a messenger of God, like Jesus or Moses.

So, I began to read everything I found about Islam and began to study Arabic in the mosque. I read about aqeedah (creed), tawhid (Oneness of Allah), and I finished the Quran but in Spanish, because I wanted to read everything as fast as I could.

In the two weeks before I said the Shahadah, I was going to the mosque to learn, and I felt that the place was full of peace. I prayed with the Muslims there while I wasn’t a Muslim yet, but I wanted to know how it feels to prostrate in front of God, because I knew that intention was important for God.

So, in two weeks, I learned the whole salah (Prayer). I knew special people there, the people that work there.

I love the Arabic language and I ask God to help me learning it faster. I said the Shahadah with sheikh Nasir from Saudi Arabia; he was there in place of sheikh Hamid.

I continued going to the mosque and then came Ramadan, which was a beautiful experience. I got to know beautiful people and I think that 2007 was my best year. Since I said the Shahadah, I haven’t missed a salah.

What was difficult to me was to leave girls, because I had a girlfriend, but I knew that it wouldn’t have worked. So, I left her and asked God to grant me a good wife.

I remember that was the first thing I asked God for. And I got to know a woman, the same week I said the Shahadah! She never had any boyfriend, and she was beautiful too. So, I see what God can do. I always have been an obstinate believer, but now, I have no doubts.

I told my mother and father that I now was a Muslim. My mother was a little afraid, but I began to treat my parents better. My brothers didn’t say anything, just, a few jokes but I am more of a joker than them, so that was nothing.

I got a job and in my first day I asked my boss for a place to pray, which was not a problem alhamdulillah. So, my life changed to the better, because I began to smile more, and try to act good with everybody.

I continued going to the mosque whenever I could, but since I took college up again, and got a better job, I hardly find time to go. But, I take some books to read like Sahih Muslim.

The reaction of my friends was funny. Alhamdulillah, I always had very good friends, all types of friends; because I always like to learn from everybody. My best friends are Catholic, and practice their religion. They go to mass every Sunday and even more since I became Muslim.

I answered all the questions that they asked. Until this day they have a lot of questions, especially my best friend and his wife, she is from Brazil, and they are Adventist. Also, my other friend who has strong faith; he and his wife are Catholic.

I ask God to help me be an instrument of his religion, to guide my parents and friends but I must not be sad for them, it’s fate.

Moreover, my youngest brother (I am the big brother) is agnostic. He thinks that I am very bad. I pray for my family. My mom cooks to me without ham. But I have to say that I oppose some things in my family, but what can I do?

I love God; this love is stronger than the love for my family. I love Prophet Muhammad, and I have to love him more than anybody on this earth to be a true believer. And I love this religion, this din, because the best I can do is to adore God.

Actually, I got everything I could ever dream of: I got the best job that I could have, and I am studying again, and preparing my marriage with that girl that God brought in to my life.
